The coastline is full of dramatic cliffs, colorful fishing villages, and crystal-clear waters. Each beach has its own vibe, so you can always find one that matches your mood.
In this guide, I’ll share my favorite beaches on the Amalfi Coast and what makes each one special, so you can plan the perfect beach day.

Some are lively and right in the heart of the towns, while others are hidden gems that you can only reach by boat or after a beautiful walk. I recommend trying both types to get a real feel for the area.

What to Know Before Visiting Amalfi Coast Beaches
Most Amalfi Coast Beaches have pebbles instead of sand. This is actually great because it keeps the water incredibly clear. I recommend bringing beach shoes, especially if you want to swim or walk along the shore.
Most beaches are split into free areas and paid sections where you can rent sun beds and umbrellas. Prices go up in the summer, especially in July and August. My tip is to come early in the morning to get a good spot.
Note, you will see the same beach names in different towns, like “Spiaggia Libera di Marina Grande.” This can be confusing at first, but it just means “Free Beach at the Main Marina.” Here’s what these names mean:
Spiaggia Libera = free public beach
Marina Grande = main harbor / main marina
Getting around is easy because you can use the SITA Bus or take a ferry between towns. Some beaches are only accessible by a boat ride or shuttle, so keep that in mind when planning your day.
Positano Beaches Guide
Positano is home to some of the most photographed Amalfi Coast Beaches, with colorful buildings cascading down steep cliffs toward the sea. The beaches here are lively and full of energy, with lots of beach clubs where you can relax and enjoy the view.
Spiaggia Grande
Spiaggia Grande is the main beach in Positano and probably one of the most famous beaches of the Amalfi Coast. It’s right in the center of town, so you can just walk there. This beach is always busy with people, and a great place for swimming, people-watching, or joining a boat tour along the coast.
Fornillo Beach
Fornillo Beach is a quieter alternative to Spiaggia Grande. You can get there by walking along a beautiful coastal path, and once you arrive, the vibe is much more relaxed.
There are a few beach clubs here with sun beds and small restaurants, plus a free area if you just want to lay out your towel. The water is clear, the cliffs are dramatic, and there are fewer people, so it’s perfect if you want a more laid-back beach day close to town.
Arienzo Beach
Arienzo Beach is known as the Beach of 300 Steps. Getting there means walking down a lot of stairs, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. The views on the way down are amazing, and the water is crystal clear. It’s definitely worth the effort.
You’ll find beach clubs here with sunbeds, food, and drinks, plus a small free section. Some clubs even have shuttle boats from Positano, which is great if you don’t want to climb all those steps back up.
Laurito Beach
Laurito Beach is west of Positano, on the way to Praiano. It’s a small, quiet place surrounded by greenery that feels like a little corner of paradise. If you’re looking for a peaceful place away from the crowds, this is one of the best Amalfi Coast beaches to visit.
You can get to Laurito either via a walking path or by boat. The water is warm and clear, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Laurito is a real hidden gem if you want to avoid the crowds.

6 Positano Beach Clubs
1 – L’Incanto
L’Incanto is a classic choice if you want to relax right on the sand. There are sunbeds, umbrellas, and a restaurant just steps from the water.
2 – La Scogliera Positano
La Scogliera is famous for its unique location built into the rocks, with amazing views over the Tyrrhenian Sea. If you want to enjoy a more dramatic setting and take in the scenery, this is a great place to stop.
There’s a small free section here, but during the summer months, the paid areas fill up fast. I recommend getting here early in the morning; this is the best way to grab a good spot.
3 – Da Ferdinando
Da Ferdinando has a laid-back vibe and feels more local than some of the other clubs.
4 – Pupetto Beach Club
Pupetto Beach Club is casual and comfortable, with food service and a calm atmosphere. It’s a good spot if you want to relax away from the busier parts of Positano.
5 – Arienzo Beach Club
Arienzo Beach Club is among one of the best places on the Amalfi Coast beaches because of its perfect sun exposure and beautiful setting. To get here, you’ll need to walk down a steep staircase, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. The beach club has sunbeds, food, and a shuttle boat from Positano’s main pier. The crystal clear waters, dramatic rock walls, and views of the coast make it feel like a little escape from the busy town.
6 – Da Adolfo
Da Adolfo is technically closer to Laurito, but it’s a must-visit if you’re in Positano. You get there by boat, and it really feels like a little corner of paradise. There’s a rustic restaurant, sun loungers, and warm water for swimming. If you are visiting in peak season, make sure to plan ahead as it gets busy.
Town of Amalfi Beaches
Amalfi has a few different beaches, from busy ones right in the center to quieter little coves just outside the town.
Marina Grande Beach (Amalfi’s Main Beach)
Marina Grande is the main beach in Amalfi, right next to the ferry port and the historic center. It’s the most convenient beach in town, walking distance to most cafés, shops, and restaurants, just steps away. Because of that, it gets very crowded, especially in summer. But if you’re staying nearby, it’s an ideal choice for a quick swim or to relax without having to go far.
Spiaggia del Duoglio (Just Outside Town)
Spiaggia del Duoglio is about 10 minutes west of Amalfi along the coastal road. Part of the beach is run by a beach club, but there’s usually a small free section (spiaggia libera) as well. The water here is crystal clear, and it’s much less crowded than Marina Grande. If you’re looking for a quieter free beach close to Amalfi, this is one of the best choices.

Town of Amalfi Beach Clubs
Ristorante Santa Croce
Ristorante Santa Croce is located on the beautiful Santa Croce Beach, which you can only reach by boat tour or shuttle boat. If you want a more secluded beach day with fewer people and amazing food, this is the place for you. You can relax on a lounge chair right by the sea and enjoy a delicious meal with a view. In my opinion, it’s one of the best spots for a quiet beach escape near Amalfi.
Lido Degli Artisti
Lido Degli Artisti is just outside Amalfi and sits on a rocky platform right above the water. The views of the coast from here are incredible. You can swim, sunbathe, and enjoy the scenery without the crowds. You can get here by boat or by walking down a staircase, and there’s a small fee for the loungers.
Marinella Beach Club (Borgo Santandrea)
Marinella Beach Club is part of the luxury Borgo Santandrea hotel, just outside Amalfi near Conca dei Marini. The beach is tucked below dramatic cliffs, and you get there by a private elevator. It’s only for hotel guests, so it feels very exclusive. If you’re staying at Borgo Santandrea, you definitely have to spend some time here.

Fiordo di Furore Beach
Fiordo di Furore is, in my opinion, one of the most unique Amalfi Coast Beaches. It’s a tiny strip of sand hidden beneath a dramatic bridge and surrounded by huge rock walls. It’s located between Praiano and Amalfi. This little beach feels like a hidden gem, tucked away from the main road. The water here has a beautiful aquamarine color.
There aren’t any traditional beach clubs here, so I recommend visiting earlier in the day, especially during the busy summer months.
Capri Beaches that are Free
Capri is a classic day trip from the Amalfi Coast, especially if you’re coming by ferry or a boat tour from Positano or Amalfi. Unlike most Amalfi Coast beaches, Capri is famous for its rocky platforms, fancy beach clubs, and that deep blue water you see in all the photos. Don’t expect sandy beaches here.
Spiaggia Libera di Marina Grande
This is the easiest free beach to reach in Capri, right next to the ferry port. The beach is a mix of pebbles and rocks, and the water is very clear. The vibe is lively, especially in summer, but it gets crowded. If you just want a quick swim without paying for a beach club, this is a good spot.
Bagni di Tiberio
Bagni di Tiberio is probably the most famous free beach in Capri. It’s close to the ruins of an ancient Roman villa that belonged to Emperor Tiberius, so the setting feels very historic. The beach is pebbly, the water is calm, and you get amazing views over the Bay of Naples.
You can get here by walking from Marina Grande or by boat. There’s a small restaurant nearby, but the beach itself is free to use.
Spiaggia di Marina Piccola
Marina Piccola has a small free area next to the beach clubs. It’s on the south side of Capri, so the water is warmer, and there’s less wind than at Marina Grande.
The setting here is stunning, with views of the Faraglioni rocks. Space is limited, so I recommend coming early if you want a spot.
Gradola Free Swimming Area
This spot is near Anacapri, close to the Blue Grotto. It’s not really a beach, but more of a public swimming platform. The area is rocky, with ladders that go straight into crystal-clear waters.
Punta Carena Rocks
This area is right by the Punta Carena lighthouse. People sunbathe on the flat rocks and swim in the deep blue water. It’s totally free and has one of the most relaxed vibes in Capri.

Capri Beach Clubs
Lido del Faro
Lido del Faro is a relaxed beach club on Capri and is beautiful for sunset views. It’s located in Anacapri, right on a rocky platform above the sea. The water here is warm, there are swimming pools, and the whole place has a calm vibe.
La Fontelina
La Fontelina is probably the most iconic beach club in Capri. It’s located right below the famous Faraglioni rocks. There’s no sand here, just sunbeds on smooth rock platforms with amazing views of the aquamarine sea. It is simple and stylish, I recommend booking a table here in advance. If you want that classic Capri experience, this is the place to go.
Il Riccio Beach Club
Il Riccio Beach Club is the place to go if you want a more refined and upscale experience. It’s close to the Blue Grotto, and it’s famous for excellent service, elegant sunbeds, and crystal-clear water.
Most people come here for a long, leisurely lunch at the restaurant, so if you’re looking for a luxury beach day in Capri, Il Riccio is the perfect place.
Le Ondine Beach Club
Le Ondine Beach Club is right near Marina Grande, so it’s one of the easiest beach clubs to reach if you’re arriving by ferry.
It’s a popular spot if you’re only spending a short day on the island. There are sun loungers, easy swimming access, and a lively vibe. If you want some beach time without going far from the port, this spot a good idea.
Torre Saracena Beach Club
Torre Saracena Beach Club has a seaside restaurant and a small beach platform. It’s a nice place for a relaxed lunch and an early afternoon swim, especially if you want to be somewhere quieter.

Atrani Free Beach
Atrani Beach is only a short walk from Amalfi, but it feels much quieter and more local. The beach is small and sits right under steep cliffs, next to one of the small villages in Italy. The atmosphere here is very relaxed, even in the middle of summer when other beaches are packed.
If you want to enjoy the Amalfi Coast beaches without the crowds and you are staying nearby, I think Atrani Beach is a great choice.
Atrani Beach Clubs
Lido di Ravello Beach Club
Lido di Ravello Beach Club is actually just outside Atrani, near Castiglione, even though the name says Ravello. It’s one of the most organized beach clubs in the area. You can rent sunbeds and umbrellas, and the water is easy to access. The setting is beautiful, with clear water and fewer people than Amalfi’s main beach.
Atrani Main Beach (Multiple Beach Clubs)
Atrani’s main beach has a few small beach clubs along the shore, plus a free area. The clubs here are much more low-key and casual than the ones in Positano. You can get a sun lounger, an umbrella, and some simple food or drinks. Since Atrani is quieter and less crowded, it’s a nice place to relax and enjoy the beach at a slower pace, all while being just a short walk from Amalfi.
Praiano Beaches that are Free
Marina di Praia
Marina di Praia has a small free beach area (spiaggia libera) right next to the beach clubs. The beach is in a narrow cove surrounded by cliffs, and the water here is calm and clear. If you just want a quick swim and don’t feel like paying for a sunbed, this is a good spot to try.
La Gavitella Beach
La Gavitella also has a small free section, but it’s tiny and gets crowded fast. I recommend coming here early if you want a good spot. The beach faces west, so you get sun almost all day and the views of the open sea are really beautiful.
Praiano Beach Clubs
One Fire Beach Club
One Fire Beach Club is right by the water and has a super relaxed vibe. You can rent a sunbed and umbrella, and they have food service so you don’t have to leave your spot. If you want a comfortable and easygoing beach day in Praiano, this is a great place to try.
Marina di Praia
Marina di Praia is a narrow beach tucked between high cliffs, just outside Praiano. The cliffs make it feel cozy and sheltered, almost like a hidden spot.
The water here is a beautiful turquoise and usually very calm. There are a few small restaurants and a bar right on the beach, so you can grab lunch or a drink without going far.
La Gavitella – Restaurant & Beach
La Gavitella is both a beach club and a restaurant, and it has some of the best panoramic views of the coast. It’s a popular place for a leisurely lunch followed by a swim, especially when the weather is beautiful.
Sorrento Free Beaches
Sorrento isn’t officially part of the Amalfi Coast, but it’s so close that most people include it in their Amalfi Coast trips. If you’re staying nearby, it’s definitely worth a visit.
Spiaggia Libera Marina Grande
This beach is right in the heart of the Marina Grande fishing village. It’s the most popular free beach in Sorrento. The beach is small and pebbly, but the water is calm and the atmosphere feels very local. There are tons of restaurants just a few steps away, so you can easily grab lunch or a coffee after your swim.
Puolo Beach
Puolo Beach is just outside the center of Sorrento and has both free and paid sections. It’s more spacious than most beaches in the area, and the water is shallow, perfect if you’re not a strong swimmer. The vibe here is very relaxed.
Queen Giovanna Baths
Queen Giovanna Baths is a natural swimming spot surrounded by Roman ruins and dramatic rocks. It’s one of the most beautiful places to swim in Sorrento, but you’ll need to walk a bit to get there and wear sturdy shoes. There aren’t any facilities, so bring water and snacks with you.
Sorrento Beach Clubs
Maya Beach Experience
Maya Beach Experience is a modern beach club built on a wooden platform right above the water. You can rent a sunbed, relax under an umbrella, and order food or drinks while enjoying the view. T
Marameo Beach Club
Marameo Beach Club is right next to Sorrento’s marina and has a lively, stylish vibe. It’s a great place to relax by the water, go for a swim, or have a drink while looking out at the Bay of Naples.
Vietri sul Mare & Marina di Vietri Beaches
Vietri sul Mare is known for its colorful ceramics, and it also has some of the easiest sandy beaches to access on the Amalfi Coast.
Marina di Vietri is just next door and has a wide stretch of sand, turquoise waters, and both private beach clubs and free public areas. It’s one of the easiest beaches to reach by public transport, so if you want a relaxed beach day without too much hassle, this is a great choice.
Marina di Cetara Beach
Marina di Cetara is located in a small fishing village that still feels very authentic and untouched by mass tourism.
The beach here is pebbly, and the water is crystal clear. It’s usually much less crowded than the beaches in the more famous towns, so you can actually relax. After a swim, I recommend stopping at one of the local restaurants for some of the freshest seafood.
Best Time to Visit Amalfi Coast Beaches
If you want to really enjoy the Amalfi Coast beaches, I recommend visiting in late May, June, or September. The water is warm, the weather is perfect, and you won’t have to deal with huge crowds.
July and August are the busiest months, with higher prices and packed beaches. If you visit during this time, I suggest going early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
