When it comes to Dubrovnik restaurants, I think the best place to be is somewhere you can enjoy a great meal that is also paired with amazing views. In Old Town Dubrovnik, you’ll find everything from charming terraces overlooking the city walls to seaside tables with an Adriatic view.

Why Dubrovnik Restaurants With a View Are a Must?

There’s something special about sitting down to have a meal in Dubrovnik’s Old Town and looking out at the old city walls, terracotta rooftops, and the shimmering Adriatic view. The setting feels like a postcard, and it makes every bite taste even better. 

I’ve found that some of the best local restaurants here serve traditional Croatian cuisine. On the other hand, the most romantic restaurants pair candlelight with truly great views, especially at sunset when the whole city glows. 

There’s definitely no shortage of good food here. Many Dubrovnik restaurants combine incredible flavors with scenery you’ll remember long after you leave, which is why this is one of the best things to do while visiting.

1. Dubrovnik Restaurants With a View: Panorama Restaurant

One of the prettiest places I loved for sunset and dinner is Panorama Restaurant. And let me tell you—it’s no joke, the place really does have a panoramic view! It felt so special from the moment we arrived and quickly became one of my favorite spots in Dubrovnik. So technically its not in the heart of the old town but it does have the BEST panoramic views of the city and Dubrovnik old town. I think this is one of the most romantic restaurants in the city.

Getting there: first, you’ll take the Dubrovnik Cable Car to the top of Mount Srđ, which is an experience in itself. The ride is quick, but the views as you go up are incredible. Once you reach the cable car station, the restaurant is right there.

We came for dinner in the late afternoon, which I highly recommend. The food was delicious, but what made it unforgettable were the breathtaking views overlooking the ancient walled city and Old Town Dubrovnik.

Reservations are a must, especially during peak season. We requested a front-row seat for the best views of Dubrovnik, and it was unreal! I definitely suggest adding Panorama Restaurant to your Croatia Itinerary and booking ahead to get the front row table.

2. Dubrovnik Restaurants With a View: Restaurant Dubrovnik

Located in the heart of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, just a 4-minute walk from Pile Gate. The rooftop terrace has a beautiful setting above the Old Town streets and has an intimate and elegant atmosphere.

Restaurant Dubrovnik is MICHELIN-recommended with a very creative chef. They serve modern Croatian cuisine with a Dalmatian and Mediterranean cuisine twist. You can pair your meal with excellent wine options. Make reservations early evening for sunset views, delicious food, and a dining experience to remember.

3. Dubrovnik Restaurants With a View: Gradska Kavana Arsenal Restaurant

Just a 4-minute walk from Ploce Gate, Gradska Kavana Arsenal Restaurant is one of my favorite places for beautiful harbor views. I recommend making a reservation and asking for a front-row table—it doesn’t cost extra, and the view is worth it.

I came here for dinner, but they also serve breakfast and lunch. If you don’t want to splurge on lunch or dinner but still want the views, come for breakfast. If you visit later in the day, the squid ink black risotto with cuttlefish was one of our favorites!

4. Dubrovnik Restaurants With a View: Dubravka 1836 Restaurant & Café

Dubravka is right by Pile Gate, the west entrance to the Old Town. This is a waterfront restaurant that has a big outdoor terrace and looks out at Lovrijenac, Bokar, and Minčeta fortresses. Expect to see amazing views! The menu is full of fresh, local flavors and classic Mediterranean cuisine. You can order anything from pizza and pasta to fresh seafood.

It’s a great choice for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and the sea breeze feels perfect, especially in the summer months. The staff here is friendly and attentive, and no one rushes you out.

If you book ahead, ask for a front-row seat by the wall facing the sea. You’ll get a gorgeous coastal view and the perfect sunset backdrop.

5. Dubrovnik Restaurants With a View: Stara Loža

Stara Loža is located in a beautiful 15th-century palace in the heart of the Old Town. It’s the kind of place I go to for a special night out. This can easily become one of your favorite Dubrovnik restaurants.

There are three dining areas—a street-level terrace, an elegant upstairs salon, and a small rooftop that only 14 seats. The rooftop is stunning, but keep in mind that during the summer months, there’s a minimum spend.

The menu is Mediterranean cuisine with fresh seafood, pasta, and creative seasonal dishes. It’s especially magical at sunset when you can see amazing views over the Old Town’s red rooftops.

6. Dubrovnik Restaurants With a View: Nautika Restaurant

Nautika is one of the most romantic restaurants in Dubrovnik, located right by Pile Gate. It’s a fine dining experience and is one of the best seafood restaurants in the city. They also have an extensive wine list.

It’s an à la carte restaurant but also has a five-course tasting menu. They serve Mediterranean cuisine, which is so flavorful. If you are a seafood lover, they also have many fish specialties to choose from.

This is such a beautiful waterfront restaurant; it has a gorgeous terrace, an incredible Adriatic view, and the city’s fortresses.

In the summer months, try to book a front-row seat—it’s especially magical at sunset when you can see amazing views over the Old Town’s red rooftops.

7. Dubrovnik Restaurants With a View: Buža Bar

While this isn’t a restaurant, I think it’s worth including because it’s one of my favorites. It’s also one of the best places in Dubrovnik for amazing views. Buza Bar is a cliffside bar built right into the city walls, with an incredible Adriatic view. It’s a little hidden, so you’ll need to walk down some stairs to find it.

The bar has different levels. Some with tables and chairs, others just rocks where you can sunbathe or cliff jump. During the day, most people are in bathing suits, swimming, and having a cocktail while relaxing.

If you can, come back at sunset. I think it’s even more special, and it’s one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve seen in Dubrovnik

They don’t take reservations—it’s all first come, first served.

8. Dubrovnik Restaurants With a View: BOWA Restaurant

BOWA is technically not in the Old Town, but I couldn’t leave it out. It’s on the island of Šipan, and the only way to get there is by boat. You can either rent your own for the day or have the restaurant arrange a pickup from Dubrovnik. When you arrive, someone is waiting at the dock to check you in—it feels like your own private escape.

Located on a quiet little bay, BOWA is part beach club, part restaurant, and all about relaxation. The water here is crystal clear, and the setting has some of the best views I’ve seen. Reservations are a must, and it really does feel exclusive, tucked away from the crowds.

The menu leans into fresh seafood and Mediterranean flavors, perfect for a long lunch by the water. If you’re looking for that “hidden gem” experience during your time in Dubrovnik, this is the place I’d recommend.

When is the Best Time to Visit Dubrovnik?

Choosing the right time to visit can really shape your Dubrovnik experience. Here’s a quick guide to help you decide:

April, May, September and October: Shoulder Season 

The shoulder season is a great time to visit. The weather is still warm and sunny, but the crowds are smaller compared to the summer months. You’ll have enough time to enjoy the city without feeling rushed, and it’s easier to find tables at restaurants and explore popular sites like the City Walls and Lokrum Island without the peak season hustle.

June – August: Peak Season

The summer months are the busiest in Dubrovnik, with long days, hot weather, and lots of tourists. This is when the city is at its liveliest, but also the most crowded and expensive. If you visit during this time, plan to start your sightseeing early in the morning to avoid the midday heat and big crowds. You’ll want to book hotels, restaurants, and cable car tickets well in advance.

November – March: Off-season

The off-season is much quieter, and some attractions, shops, and restaurants may close or have limited hours. However, if you’re not a fan of crowds and don’t mind cooler weather, this can be a quiet time to explore the Old Town. Just keep in mind that swimming spots and boat trips like might not be available during these months.

How to get around Dubrovnik?

The best way to get around Dubrovnik, especially the old town, is on foot. The Old Town is compact, and most of the main sights are within walking distance. You really don’t need public transport to explore the city center. The stone streets, narrow alleyways, and scenic viewpoints are best enjoyed by walking.

You’ll likely enter through Pile Gate, but there’s also Ploče Gate on the opposite side, which leads you to the eastern entrance of Old Town and the outer walls. Both gates are easy walking routes that connect you to the city’s main attractions.

Public buses are available if you’re staying further out, but once you’re inside the Old Town, walking is the easiest and most enjoyable way to see Dubrovnik.

Is Dubrovnik safe to visit?

In my experience, Dubrovnik felt like one of the safest places I’ve ever visited. It’s the kind of city where people leave their bags and belongings on the beach without worrying. I didn’t see or hear of any pickpockets, which is very different from places like Rome and Paris, where you always have to be cautious.

Everyone we met in Dubrovnik was so friendly and welcoming. The city is also extremely clean—the streets almost sparkle! There’s no trash or litter lying around, and the whole place feels very well cared for.

If you’re worried about safety, Dubrovnik is a destination where you can relax and truly enjoy without constantly being on guard.

Language, do I need to speak Croatian?

You don’t need to worry about speaking Croatian when visiting Dubrovnik. Most people speak English very well, and we never had any language barrier during our trip. In restaurants, shops, and even small local places, communication was always easy.

That said, it’s always respectful to learn a few basic Croatian phrases like “hello” (bok), “thank you” (hvala), and “goodbye” (doviđenja). Locals really appreciate when visitors make a small effort to use their language.

Are there Good Beaches in Dubrovnik?

Absolutely! Dubrovnik is surrounded by the Adriatic Sea, so you’ll always find amazing places to swim.

There are so many beautiful beaches with crystal-clear waters. Some are right next to the city walls, little coves tucked under cliffs, and scenic spots just steps from the Old Town. Others are a bit further out along the coast if you’re up for exploring beyond the city center. Even with just 1 day in Dubrovnik, you can still enjoy time at the beach.

One thing to note is that most beaches here are pebbly, not sandy, so I highly recommend bringing water shoes. But the crystal-clear water makes it impossible to stay away, especially on a hot day!
