1-MIRADOURO DE SANTA LUZIA
This is one of the best viewpoints in Lisbon, which has a stunning spot to watch both sunrise and sunset. We arrived here first thing early morning and later returned to catch the sunset—it was truly unforgettable. Just note that sunset will be very crowded. The observation deck overlooks the Tagus River and Lisbon’s historic streets, which creates a picture-perfect scene.
The pergola-covered terraces, draped in bougainvillea, add to the charm, making it a dreamy place for photos. Surrounded by whitewashed buildings and cobblestone streets in the heart of the Alfama district, this is the best place and best time to start your morning and take in the beauty of the city—you’ll have it all to yourself. It’s also one of the more famous viewpoints in Lisbon that you’ll often see all over Instagram and social media.
2-MIRADOURO DAS PORTAS DO SOL
This one’s just a short walk from Santa Luzia Viewpoint. It has amazing panoramic views of the city and a great lookout over the Alfama district and the Tagus River. The large, open terrace gives you a postcard-perfect view—red rooftops, church towers, and the river stretching out into the distance. You can even grab a coffee from the nearby kiosk and just relax while enjoying the scenery. The famous tram #28 stops here.
3-MIRADOURO CASTELO DE SÃO JORGE
Located in the iconic São Jorge Castle, this 11th-century castle sits on a hill with some of the best vantage points in Lisbon. As you explore the castle, you’ll find palace ruins, an archaeological museum, and plenty of spots to take in the views. It’s easy to walk around most of the castle in about an hour, and the different viewpoints give you amazing views of the city.
Even if castles aren’t your thing, the panoramic views from up here are definitely worth it. If you climb to the upper levels, you’ll get even more stunning views, plus there are peacocks wandering around, which is pretty cool!
4-MIRADOURO DA GRAÇA
Miradouro da Graça has a breathtaking view of the beautiful city and the abril bridge. We came here late afternoon to watch the sunset, and it was absolutely stunning. From this lookout, you get panoramic views of the city, with red rooftops, the iconic Castelo de São Jorge, and the river stretching out in the distance. It’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy the view, and take a few photos. It’s a must-see for a dramatic perspective of the city.
5-MIRADOURO DA SENHORA DO MONTE
Miradouro da Senhora do Monte is considered to be the highest point in Lisbon with stunning panoramic views of the city and the Tagus River. Located in the charming Graça neighborhood, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of Lisbon.
From here, you can see São Jorge Castle and the city skyline. The view point also has a tile panel that helps identify Lisbon’s landmarks. It’s also a great place to watch the sunset, with the city lights twinkling below.
6-MIRADOURO DE SÃO PEDRO DE ALCÂNTARA
Another scenic spot in Lisbon is the São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint. This beautiful vantage point is located in the Bairro Alto district and has a garden-like terrace that has stunning panoramic views of the city, including São Jorge Castle, the Tagus River, and the rooftops of the old town in the Alfama district. There are benches, fountains, and a tiled map of Lisbon’s landmarks.
7- MIRADOURO DE SANTA CATARINA
Miradouro de Santa Catarina (also called Adamastor) is a viewing platform with scenic views of the Tagus River, the 25 de Abril Bridge, and boats passing by. It’s between Bairro Alto and Cais do Sodré and has a casual, local feel with musicians and street performers. You can grab a drink from a nearby kiosk, sit on the steps, and watch the sunset. It’s a great spot to hang out, especially in the evening when the city lights start to shine.
8-ANTA JUSTA LIFT – ELEVADOR DE SANTA JUSTA
Located in central Lisbon, the Santa Justa Lift is a historic cast-iron elevator that connects the city centre in Baixa to the higher streets of Bairro Alto. Built in 1902, its Neo-Gothic design makes it one of the most unique landmarks in the city. At the top, you’ll find a viewing platform with stunning views of Lisbon’s rooftops and historic architecture. The area is packed with great local food spots, and the seaside is just a short walk away. If you have the Lisboa Travel Card, the ride is FREE!
9-AMOREIRAS 360° PANORAMIC VIEW
Located on the roof of Amoreiras Shopping Center, this open-air platform is one of the highest spots in Lisbon, offering a 360-degree view of the city. From here, you can see everything from the Tagus River to the airport runway. The viewpoint has maps to help identify landmarks, plenty of seating, and fixed binoculars for a closer look. It’s a quiet, clean spot, perfect for taking in Lisbon’s skyline. The 5€ entrance fee is well worth it for the wonderful view over the city.
10-LUMI ROOFTOP BAR
Lumi Rooftop, is a chic rooftop bar has stunning views of the city, making it the perfect spot to enjoy an aperitif cocktail as the sun begins to set.
11-PILAR 7 BRIDGE EXPERIENCE
The Pilar 7 Bridge Experience is a unique vantage point inside one of the pillars of the 25 de Abril Bridge. you take an elevator or walk up 300 stairs. It gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the bridge’s structure and history, ending with a glass-floor viewing platform high above the Tagus River. It’s a different way to see the city, with a mix of engineering and amazing views. If you’re not afraid of heights, standing on the glass floor with the river below is a cool experience.
12-BICA FUNICULAR
Bica Funicular, also known as Elevador da Bica. This is the most photographed tram in Lisbon, and when you see it slowly climbing the steep, picturesque R. da Bica de Duarte Belo, you’ll understand why! It’s a classic Lisbon experience, and you can either ride the tram or enjoy the view.
13-PANORÂMICO DE MONSANTO
Located on top of Monsanto Forest Park, Panorâmico de Monsanto is an abandoned five-story restaurant that has become a popular viewpoint with a wonderful view over Lisbon. It first opened as a luxury restaurant for high-society in the 1960s, later turned into a nightclub and storage space before being abandoned in 2001. then in 2017, it reopened to the public, and people now visit to see its graffiti-covered walls and unique design. Even though it’s no longer in use, it’s still one of the city’s most interesting spots to take in the view.
Fun fact: Madonna filmed a music video here in 2019 and even left her own graffiti!
14-SANCTUARY OF CHRIST THE KING
The Sanctuary of Christ the King (Santuário de Cristo Rei) is a peaceful spot with a huge statue of Christ, inspired by Rio’s Christ the Redeemer. It sits on a hill across the Tagus River, and also has incredible views of Lisbon and the 25 de Abril Bridge.
There’s a small park with green spaces and birds singing, so its a relaxing place to visit. You can take an elevator or climb the stairs to the top for a closer look at the statue and breathtaking views. There’s also a small souvenir shop and a lovely chapel at the base.
15-MIRADOURO DO ARCO DA RUA AUGUSTA
16-PRAÇA DO COMÉRCIO
Praça do Comércio is one of Lisbon’s most famous and beautiful squares. Right on the waterfront, it’s a huge open space surrounded by bright yellow buildings that used to be royal palaces and government offices. It’s a great place to relax, take in the stunning views of the Tagus River, watch ferries go by, and enjoy the ocean breeze. In the center, there’s a big king statue of King José I on horseback, a symbol of Portugal’s strength after the 1755 earthquake.
17-MIRADOURO DA TORRE DE BELÉM
Torre de Belém and Waterfront is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks. Originally built as a fortress in the 16th century, it sits right on the Tagus River and also has a viewing platform with great views of the river, coastline, and city skyline. From here, you can also see the nearby Jerónimos Monastery, another famous landmark. It’s a peaceful spot to relax, enjoy Lisbon’s beauty from a unique perspective, and soak in the history of the tower.
18-DOME OF THE NATIONAL PANTHEON
The terrace of the dome of the National Pantheon in Lisbon has a wonderful view of the city, including the Alfama district and the Tagus River. This place combines history with stunning scenery. From the terrace, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Lisbon’s unique architecture and the river. Originally a 17th-century church, the building was later transformed into a pantheon.
19-JAVA ROOFTOP WITH VIEWS
Java Rooftop, is trendy rooftop bar has great music, delicious cocktails, and light bites—ideal for relaxing after all the adventures you had for the day. The décor is super stylish, and the views are beautiful – this is the perfect way to unwind, sip on a cocktail or a glass of wine and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere.
20-MIRADOURO DO RECOLHIMENTO
Miradouro do Recolhimento is one of the hidden gems tucked away from the more well-known viewpoints. It’s quiet and peaceful with views of the Alfama district and the sea. There are some benches and a small park with a kids’ playground. Though a bit hard to find, it’s worth the search—just walk through the playground to reach this beautiful spot.
21-SEEN Sky Bar ROOFTOP
Located on top the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Hotel, SEEN Sky Bar is a chic rooftop spot with panoramic views over Lisbon. From here, you can see landmarks like São Jorge Castle, the Tagus River, and even the Arrábida Mountains in the distance. The bar is part of the SEEN Lisboa restaurant, so you can enjoy delicious food with a mix of Mediterranean and Japanese flavors. They also serve great cocktails, and there’s a DJ playing music to set the mood. It’s the perfect place to relax, sip a drink, and take in the city skyline
