Mallorca is a paradise for anyone who loves the beach, and Mallorca beaches are famous for good reason. The island has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Balearic Islands, with clear blue water, soft white sand, and tall cliffs in the background. There are hidden coves and wide beaches, so you can always find something special here.
In this guide, I want to share some of my favorite beaches in North Mallorca and nearby. This area has a lot of variety, and I think you’ll find some great spots to add to your trip.

Where to stay in Mallorca for all budgets
Arriving in Mallorca
You’ll most likely land at Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI), which is the main airport on the island. There are plenty of direct flights here from big cities all over Europe.
I recommend renting a car as soon as you arrive. Public transport doesn’t cover much of the island, so having your own car lets you explore the best beaches, hidden coves, and old towns whenever you want.
When to visit Mallorca
MAY, JUNE & SEPTEMBER
The ideal months to visit! The island is warm and has fewer crowds, making it perfect for enjoying the sights. Plus, better hotel availability and prices.
JULY & AUGUST:
These months can get extremely hot, and the island will be packed with tourists. Expect higher accommodation prices and limited availability.
APRIL & OCTOBER
You’ll find better prices and lots of options for places to stay. The weather is generally nice, but it can be unpredictable at times. Some spots on the island might still be closed, so I recommend checking ahead to see what’s open before you book.
NOVEMBER – MARCH
Do not visit because its cold and can be rainy and many places will be closed.
Mallorca travel tips
Getting around Mallorca
If you’re planning a trip to Mallorca, I highly recommend renting a car. The island is pretty spread out, and public transport isn’t the easiest way to get around. With your own car, you can easily reach the best beaches, discover hidden calas, and visit the old towns at your own pace. Just keep in mind that parking near the beaches is limited, so try to get there early before the small lots fill up.
Cala
The word “Cala” means “cove” in Spanish. Mallorca has so many beautiful hidden calas. These are small, secluded beaches with cliffs and clear blue water. Some of my favorites are Cala Deià, Cala Llombards, and Cala de sa Calobra.
Beach Essentials
Bring a portable air pump to inflate and deflate floats
Keep in mind that many of these calas can be rocky, so water shoes are essential!
Bring Floaties & Snorkel Gear. The water is crystal clear—perfect for snorkeling.
Currency
Mallorca uses the Euro (€), so make sure to have some cash on hand, although credit cards are widely accepted.
Language
Spanish is the official language here, and you’ll also hear a lot of Catalan. In tourist spots, most people speak English, but I always recommend learning a few simple phrases in the local language. It’s appreciated and makes your trip more fun.
Which beaches to visit in Mallorca
Mallorca is all about beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, fresh seafood, and best views—a perfect combination of beach time and exploring.
Cala Deià
Cala Deià is a small and intimate beach, surrounded by rocky cliffs and lots of greenery. The water here is calm and perfect for swimming or just floating around. I recommend spending a whole day here if you can. Bring a snorkel and a float with you, so you can explore underwater or just relax on the water. The scenery is beautiful, and it feels very peaceful.
We got a small pump on Amazon and it was honestly one of the best things to bring. It inflates and deflates floats in just a couple of minutes. Cala Deià feels pretty secluded because of its size, and if you like a bit of adventure, there are a few spots where you can try cliff jumping.
Parking is limited, so try to get there before 10am if you want a spot close to the beach. Otherwise, you’ll need to park further up the hill and walk down.
For lunch, stop at Ca’s Patro March. This cozy restaurant sits right above the beach and has amazing views of the Mediterranean. The seafood is fresh and delicious. Make a reservation on their website ahead of time because it gets busy and tables fill up fast.
Cala de sa Calobra
Cala de sa Calobra is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca. It’s tucked between two massive cliffs, so it feels like a hidden paradise that not many people know about.
You can get here by boat, which is a great way to see the coastline, or you can drive. The road is narrow and full of sharp turns, so it’s a bit of an adventure, but the mountain views are incredible. If you drive, be careful with the cyclists on the road and take your time.
Once you arrive, park your car and follow the path that goes through two tunnels carved into the mountain. The walk takes about 15 minutes and it’s easy. Passing through the tunnels feels a bit surreal, with the cool air and the quiet rock walls around you. After the second tunnel, just keep going and you’ll see the beach.
The beach has crystal clear water and smooth pebbles under your feet. You’re surrounded by tall cliffs and nature everywhere you look. The sound of the waves is really calming. It’s a great place to swim or just relax for a few hours.
There are no sunbeds or shade here, so I recommend bringing your own umbrella if you visit in summer. If you like a bit of adventure, you can try cliff jumping in a few spots. When you get hungry, you’ll find a couple of restaurants near the parking lot where you can eat. This is a perfect place to spend a relaxing day.
Cala Murta
Cala Murta is a secluded beach located on the Formentor Peninsula in northern coast of Mallorca, near Port de Pollença. It’s accessible via a 25-minute walk from the nearest parking area, adding to its peaceful and remote charm.
Located between two lush slopes, the beach has a peaceful atmosphere, perfect if you are looking to escape the crowds. The shoreline is made up of pebbles and shallow water, making it a great spot for a relaxing swim or to just cool off.
There are no facilities at Cala Murta, so it’s important to bring essentials like water, snacks, and a towel to enjoy your time here fully. The beach’s serene surroundings and lack of crowds make it an ideal retreat for nature lovers.
Cala Tuen
Cala Tuen is a peaceful beach on the northwest coast of Mallorca. It’s much quieter than the popular spots on the island, so it’s perfect if you want to escape the crowds. Getting there from Sóller takes about 50 minutes by car, and the drive is beautiful, with amazing views of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. The beach has pebbles, and the water is warm and crystal clear.
The mountains in the background make this place really beautiful and perfect for relaxing. There aren’t many facilities here, so make sure you pack everything you need for the day.
This area is also perfect if you like hiking. There are trails that take you to amazing viewpoints and old watchtowers. If you want a real adventure, you should check out Torrent de Pareis in Sa Calobra. It’s a dramatic gorge and one of the most impressive natural sights on the island.
Cala Torta
Cala Torta is a calm, laid-back beach with fine white sand and crystal-clear waters. This unspoiled small cove, offers a wild, natural setting far from the island’s more developed beaches. Backed by rolling hills and dunes, the beach has a rugged, untouched feel.
Since this beach is so secluded, there are no facilities on-site. Be sure to bring your own food, water, and beach essentials. If you’re looking for a beach off the beaten track, Cala Torta is a fantastic choice.
Platja de Alcúdia
Platja de Alcúdia is one of the longest and most popular beaches in Mallorca, stretching for nearly 7 kilometers along the island’s northeastern coast. With its beautiful white sand and shallow, calm waters, it’s a great spot for families, especially those with young children.
The beach is well-equipped with sun beds, umbrellas, and beachfront restaurants, making it easy to spend an entire day here. Thre are also plenty of water sports, from paddle boarding to jet skiing, and there’s a scenic promenade lined with shops and cafés. Thanks to its easy access and a wide range of amenities, Platja de Alcúdia is one of the best beaches for a relaxing and convenient beach day in Mallorca.
Beyond the North: Stunning Beaches in Southern Mallorca that are a must visit
Caló des moro
A somewhat remote beach, Calo Des Moro is one of the island’s most beautiful hidden spots. It’s a small beach with soft, golden fine sand and crystal-clear waters that shimmer in the sunlight. Tucked between cliffs, it feels like a peaceful retreat, far from the crowds. The shallow water makes it perfect for a refreshing swim or just wading in and enjoying the view.
Since this beach is quite small, I highly suggest arriving early to claim a spot, especially during warmer months when it fills up quickly. Additionally, keep in mind that there’s limited space to sit, so getting there early is key.
To get to the beach, you’ll need to hike a bit. The path goes down a steep hill, and you’ll have to climb back up later, so make sure to wear comfy shoes. There are also no food vendors, so bring a light lunch or snack with you.
Cala s’Almunia
When Cala Des Moro gets crowded, head over to Cala s’Almunia, a great spot just a short 10-minute walk away. This beach has a more rugged vibe, with rocky terrain and clear waters perfect for snorkeling.
The underwater world here is full of marine life, so bring your snorkeling gear. If you’re feeling adventurous again, there are also a few cliffs that are great for cliff jumping, adding a bit of excitement to your beach day. Just be prepared for the rocky landscape, which makes it a more rugged but equally beautiful spot.
Cala Mondragó
Cala Mondragó is one of Mallorca’s most beautiful beaches, located within Mondragó Natural Park on the island’s southeastern coast. Surrounded by pine forests and rocky cliffs, this sandy beach is known for its shallow, turquoise waters. The calm sea is perfect for swimming and snorkeling, with plenty of marine life to spot beneath the surface.
Despite its natural setting, Cala Mondragó has some facilities, including a small beach bar, restrooms, and sunbeds for rent. There are also scenic walking trails around the area with stunning coastal views. Since it’s one of the most popular beaches, it can get busy, so arriving early is a good idea.
Cala Llombards
One of Mallorca’s most popular beaches, Cala Llombards is a breathtaking spot with fine white sand and turquoise waters, perfect for a relaxing beach day. This easy access beach is surrounded by dramatic cliffs, offering both stunning scenery and a laid-back vibe.
The soft sand makes it great for young children, providing a comfortable place to play and swim. Arrive early to secure a good spot, as this beach gets busy during peak hours. If you didn’t bring your own beach gear, chairs and umbrellas are available for rent.
There’s a small beachfront restaurant, making it easy to grab a drink or a quick bite without leaving the sand. If you’re feeling adventurous and want some excitement, Cala Llombards also has fun cliff jumping spots and excellent snorkeling with colorful marine life and hidden caves along the shore.
Cala Màrmols
Cala Màrmols, although on the south coast of Mallorca, is a perfect place for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy a more remote beach experience. Located off the beaten track, it’s accessible only by a long hike or boat trips. The 1.5-hour trek from the lighthouse is challenging, so be sure to wear sturdy shoes and take precautions against the sun.
Despite the hike, the reward is worth it—this stunning cove with crystal-clear waters and fine white sand feels like a hidden paradise. The beach is serene, with boat tours passing by, but hikers can enjoy the beach all day without the time limit of a boat tour. It’s the perfect place for a peaceful day surrounded by nature, though be sure to pack snacks and water, as there are no facilities.
Cala Pi
This is a beautiful and peaceful sandy beach located on the southern coast of Mallorca, about 45 minutes from Palma.
Cala Pi is a small, crescent-shaped bay surrounded by steep cliffs, which gives it a secluded and protected feel. The beach is known for its calm, turquoise waters, making it ideal for a swim or a relaxing day by the sea. The sand here is soft, and the water is shallow near the shore, so it’s great for families with young children.
To get to CALA PI, you’ll have to take a short walk down a staircase that leads you to the beach, but the effort is totally worth it when you see the stunning views. While the beach is small, there’s plenty of room to spread out. One thing to keep in mind is that the beach doesn’t have facilities, bring your own beach gear, like an umbrella or a towel for extra comfort.

You can relax on the soft sand or go snorkeling to see the colorful fish. Every beach here feels different. Some are famous and easy to find, but there are also hidden gems that are less crowded.
